The Economic Offences Wing, Delhi Police has arrested the accused, Mohit Wadhwa @ Manu S/o Lt. Sh. Naveen Wadhwa R/o Rajouri Garden, New Delhi, Age 44 years from Subhash Nagar in case FIR No. 116/2021, dated 27.07.2021, u/s 406/420/120-B IPC, PS EOW, New Delhi.
The present case was registered on the complaint of Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Rai. Four complaints from four different families (comprising a total of 14 victims) were received against the accused, Mohit Wadhwa @ Manu Wadhwa, and his associates.
It was alleged that accused Mohit Wadhwa and his associates were followers of one Guru Ji, who all used to attend Satsang at Bade Mandir, Chhatarpur, New Delhi. The accused Mohit Wadhwa @ Manu and his associates convinced the victims to make investments in various schemes in Dubai. Showing rosy picture of very high returns, the alleged people obtained Rs. 9 Crores from the victims in multiple tranches from September 2017 to September 2020. Thereafter, the alleged persons neither returned their money nor provided any documents regarding investments made, if any, on behalf of the victims.
INVESTIGATION: During investigation, victims are examined and evidence collected. The bank account statements of victims and accused Mohit Wadhwa corroborate part of the monetary transactions between the accused and the victims. The examination of the victims confirmed that they had been cheated by the accused, Mohit Wadhwa @ Manu Wadhwa, and his associates. Investigation is continuing against the associates of the accused for further action into the matter.
KNOW THE ACCUSED: Amit Verma (IPS), DCP EOW. accused Mohit Wadhwa @ Manu Wadhwa is 12th standard pass and married. He was ambitious to become rich within a short span of time, by all means. When he started organizing Satsangs at his address, a huge number of devotees of GURUJI started visiting him. He won over the confidence of gullible persons by assuring them with different promises. He further disclosed that some part of the money received from the victims was invested in crypto currency and the remaining money was used for personal expenditure to enjoy a luxurious life. Prior to the present case, he was arrested in another case of the similar modus operandi in which he had cheated gullible investors.
