CBI ARRESTED 2 ACCUSED AMONG ASSISTT. ACCOUNTS OFFICER AND JE OF POONCH ACCEPTING BRIBE

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two accused including Assistant Accounts Officer and Junior Assistant O/o Executive Engineer, PWD, Surankot, District Poonch for demanding and accepting separate bribe of Rs. 20,000/- and 5,000/- respectively from the complainant for processing and releasing complainant’s GPF. 

A case was registered by CBI on May 5 against accused Assistant Accounts Officer and Junior Assistant on allegations that both accused demanded bribe of Rs. 30,000/- and 8,000/- respectively from the complainant for processing and releasing complainant’s GPF of Rs.5,04,634/-. After negotiation, accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. 20,000/- and 5,000/- respectively from the complainant. 

CBI laid a trap on 06.05.2025 and caught the both accused red-handed for demanding and accepting a bribe a bribe of 20,000/ and 5,000/- respectively from the complainant. Later, both accused were arrested. They were produced before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Jammu on 07.05.2025 and were remanded to One day Police Custody. 

Searches were conducted by CBI at the residential and official premises of the both accused at Poonch which led to recovery of some incriminating evidence.Investigation is continuing.
