CBI COURT SENTENCED SUB POST MASTER BHEL TO TWO YEARS RI AND FINE OF 80 ON MISAPPROPRIATING PUBLIC FUNDS

CBI Court sentences accused then Sub-Post Master of Sub-post Office, BHEL R.C. Puram to 2 years’ Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs 80,000/- in a case of misappropriating public funds

The Hon’ble Special Judge for CBI cases, Hyderabad, has sentenced Shri Kolla Ramakotaiah, then Sub-Post Master, MIG Colony, Sub-Post Office, BHEL, R.C. Puram to 2 years’ Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) with fine of Rs. 80,000/- in a case of misappropriating public funds. 

CBI had registered the instant case on 15.12.2008 on the basis of a written complaint given by then Asst Director, Postal Service, O/o Post Master General, Hyderabad Region, Hyderabad. It was alleged that accused Shri Kolla Ramakotaiah during the period between 2003 and 2007 cheated Postal Department to the tune of Rs. 79.79 lakh by misappropriating the cash deposits made by various account holders into their accounts. He allegedly made entries in the Pass Books only and not in the Postal Records. 

After completion of investigation, CBI had filed chargesheet on 30.04.2010 against accused. 

The Court, after trial, held the accused guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
