DEPUTY COMMISSIONER REVIEWS DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES FOR SECTOR-26 MANDI.

Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh, chaired a review meeting today to assess the progress of various directives issued by the Hon’ble Administrator during his recent visit to Mandi. The meeting was attended by Sh. Hari Kalikat, IAS, Secretary Agriculture, along with key officials and stakeholders. Several critical issues concerning the development and maintenance of the Mandi area were thoroughly examined.

The discussion primarily focused on infrastructure improvements, including the preparation of estimates for repairing internal roads and potholes in the Mandi area. Additionally, plans were made for the installation of streetlights to enhance safety and visibility. Measures to remove encroachments within the Mandi premises were also deliberated upon to ensure smooth operations and improved accessibility. To strengthen security in the area, the installation of a Police Beat Box within Sector-26, Mandi, was discussed.

(SUBHEAD)The meeting also underscored the need for enhanced cleanliness and sanitation efforts in Sector-26, Mandi. It was decided that Chandigarh Administration officials would conduct daily evening checks to monitor sanitation levels. Additionally, the removal of unauthorized settlements from government land was discussed to facilitate the creation of a parking area, along with a coordinated anti-encroachment drive to be jointly executed by the Municipal Corporation and Market Committee staff.

To ensure better organization and prevent congestion, it was agreed that registered vendors would be relocated to designated vending zones. These efforts collectively mark a significant step toward improving the infrastructure and services in the Sector-26 Mandi area.

The meeting was attended by Sh. Pavitter Singh, PCS, Administrator Market Committee, Sh. Rajiv Tewari, Joint Secretary, Marketing Board, Sh. Sumeet Sihag, HCS, Joint Commissioner, MC, Smt. Khushpreet, SDM (East), and officials from the Engineering, Police, and Municipal Corporation departments, along with traders from the Grain Market.
