Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the aviation security regulator of India envisages for installation of CTX at new and major airports so as not to divest electronic items from hand baggage during security check.

This has been stated by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol in an answer to questions on “Advance Technology Scanners at Airports” asked by MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora in the recently concluded winter session of Rajya Sabha.

(MOREPIC2) (SUBHEAD)Giving this information here today, Arora said the Minister further mentioned in his answer that the rollout of CTX is pending for evolving technical specifications and Standard Operating Procedure by BCAS. This question was asked by MP Arora earlier also but got the same answer. It is taking much longer than expected, Arora said.

Arora had asked about the latest update on the new technology scanners at airports that allow electronics items to remain in bags during screening. He had also asked when these scanners would be installed to reduce crowding at security lines and enhance overall convenience for travellers.

Meanwhile, Arora said passengers will not have to queue up and get their registered baggage scanned before dropping at the check-in counters, resulting in faster passenger processing, minimum queuing time, and less congestion at Check-in Area.
