CHANDIGARH HOUSING BOARD CANCELS LICENCES OF 16 FLATS; MORE CANCELLATIONS TO FOLLOW

Face2News/Chandigarh

The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has allotted approximately 18,138 flats under the Small Flats Scheme, including 2,000 flats under the Affordable Rental Housing Complex Scheme. These flats have been allotted for the occupation of the allottees and their families on a monthly licence fee basis, and they cannot be sold, sub-let, transferred, or handed over to other persons.

It has been noticed that many allottees have failed to pay the monthly licence fee of Rs. 800 regularly. Despite multiple Show Cause Notices cum demand notices, these licencees have not complied. The CHB has made extensive efforts to motivate these licencees through notices, radio announcements, Munadi, and other methods. Personal hearings are also offered to defaulters periodically.

(SUBHEAD)An estimated amount of Rs. 64 Crores is outstanding from these willful defaulters. The list of allottees with outstanding dues is regularly updated on the Chandigarh Housing Board website. Licencees can conveniently pay their dues through the online payment link provided at www.chbonline.in, or at any Sampark Center or HDFC Bank branch.

Around 16 small flats have been cancelled this month in accordance with Clause 16(a) (iii) of the Chandigarh Small Flats Scheme – 2006. This clause stipulates that if the licencee fails to deposit the licence fee despite a notice of demand for a specified period, the Competent Authority has the authority to cancel the allotment of the small flats.

CHB hereby advises all defaulters to clear their outstanding dues forthwith. Failing to do so will result in the Chandigarh Housing Board being constrained to cancel the allotment of small flats of the defaulters.
