BHAKRA DAM TO RELEASE 26500 CUSES WATER TO FULFILL REQUIREMENT TO PARTNERS STATES

To fulfill the requirements of Partner States as per Technical Committee Meeting held on 28-05-2024, it is decided to release water from Bhakra as per requirements of States Accordingly, 26,500 cusecs will be released from Bhakra on 13-06-2024 from 06. 00 hours onwards.

With the above releases approximately up to 4,500 cusecs water may have to be released downstream Nangal Dam in Satluj River.

The total releases in River Satluj including downstream Nangal Dam, Khads. escapes through Nakkian, Lohand escapes and Ropar Thermal Plant may go up to about 20,000 cusecs

The releases downstream Nangal Dam may increase to 17,000 cusecs for short duration due to rainfall / discharge in local Khads and in case of sudden closure / breach in Bhakra Main Line / Nangal Hydel Channel if any. The discharge in river Sutlej downstrearn Lohand may go up to 27,000 cusecs for certain period.

The Director, Water Regulation, BBMB, Nangal Township added that the concerned Irrigation, Drainage and Civil authorities accordingly please be informed. 

The people living nearby may be cautioned and the children avoid to take bath in the rivers during release of water to avoid untoward incidents.
