A student from a Sriganganagar college asked a friend for money to pay the college fees but instead of cash, the friend, who was a painter, handed him a package containing about 1.5 kg of heroin. They agreed to split the profits equally. Now, both are in police custody.
Pradeep Kumar of Dullapur Keri village in the Hindumalkot police station area, is a second-year student in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. He needed money urgently to pay his college fees. He reportedly asked Dinesh Kumar, a friend, for a loan. Dinesh said he didn’t have any cash on hand, but he had something that could be sold for a good price. The next day, Dinesh allegedly gave Pradeep a package. When Pradeep opened it, he was shocked to find that it contained heroin. Dinesh said that since Pradeep was a college student, the heroin would be easy to sell. They would split the profits from the sale equally.
Pradeep reportedly sold 400 grams of heroin to a youth, identified as Rajinder Singh, aka Raju, at a price of 1200 rupees per gram. While trying to sell the remaining heroin, Pradeep was caught red-handed by Sub-Inspector Amman. A total of 1.10 kg of heroin was seized from his possession.
Rajinder Singh, alias Raju, was arrested by the team led by Sub-Inspector Darya Singh in Purani Abadi area. 394 grams of heroin was seized from his possession.
During interrogation, Raju mentioned the name of Pradeep. Based on this information, the team led by Sub-Inspector Amman Ghanas arrested Pradeep. Charges have been filed against them under the NDPS Act. Both would be questioned during remand.
