In Sri Ganganagar district, the police have seized approximately 10.5 kg of heroin—part of a 12 kg consignment procured through collusion between Pakistani and Punjab-based smugglers—and arrested three individuals, including a couple, while two others are currently being interrogated.
Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar Yadav said that Dharmendra Singh (alias Babbu), a resident of Bhaini Gujjran village in Sidhwan Bet Tehsil in Ludhiana and Jaswinder Singh (alias Jassi), a resident of Salempura (Sri Ganganagar), were arrested. A total of 9.908 kg of heroin (packed in 20 packets) and Rs 1.40 lakh in cash were recovered from their vehicle.
Following a raid on Jaswinder Singh’s house, the police seized an additional 511 grams of heroin and Rs 21,200 in cash. Jaswinder Singh’s wife, Navjot Kaur (alias Jyoti), was also arrested.
According to sources, smugglers from Punjab had established contact with Pakistani smugglers to arrange this delivery in the Gharsana sector of Sri Ganganagar district. A Pakistani drone made three sorties to drop packets containing approximately 12 kg of heroin. Jaswinder Singh (alias Jassi) was accompanied by three couriers sent by notorious smugglers from Punjab. After the drone drop, the group collected the consignment and proceeded to Salempura. At Jaswinder’s house, the contraband was divided into three portions. During this time, a history-sheeter from Nohar arrived and left with 1.5 kg of heroin, search for him is ongoing.
