Under the theme of World Hypertension Day: “Measure your blood pressure correctly, control it”, a Walkathon was organized today in village Killianwali near Abohar to spread health awareness among the villagers. The purpose of this creative program was to give health related knowledge and spread awareness in the society.

Block Mass Media Incharge Sushil Kumar said that an awareness walkathon was organized today by the staff and Asha workers of Ayushman Arogya Kendra Killianwali. People were enlightened about high blood pressure and inspired to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

(SUBHEAD)Organized with the resolution of “One Step towards Health”, the walkathon not only created a stir on the streets, but also created a wave of awareness about health in the minds of the people. The program started in the morning, in which hundreds of people participated. They carried placards that read: Don’t take blood pressure lightly, walk fast, stay healthy! Reduce stress, save lives!

The walkathon was flagged off by Medical Officer Dr. Shubham Sethi. He said, Hypertension is a silent disease that can cause severe damage without showing any symptoms. It can be prevented by regular exercise, a balanced diet and adopting a stress-free lifestyle.

SMO Dr. Vikas Gandhi said that the message given through the event was that high blood pressure should not be ignored, and every person should be conscious about their health.
