A team led by ASI Swaran Singh of the CIA staff Fazilka has arrested two drug smugglers and recovered 1.20 kg of heroin from them.
The arrested drug smugglers have been identified as Gurmeet Singh of Panj Grain, Police Station Ajnala, District Amritsar and Surjit Singh of Harsha Chhina, Police Station Rajasansi, District Amritsar. A case has been registered under Section 21(C), 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sadar Jalalabad and further action is being taken. A Scorpio vehicle (DL-04CR-8747) used by the accused has been impounded.
(SUBHEAD)SSP Gurmeet Singh said that a police party patrolling and checking suspicious men was going from Sukhera Bodla, Baghe Ke Mod to Canal Link Road Chak Sukkar. When the police party reached one km along the canal from Fazilka-Ferozepur Road, a black Scorpio vehicle No. DL-04CR-8747 was stopped and checked. Occupants Gurmeet Singh and Surjit Singh were arrested. In the presence of Rakesh Kumar DSP (Narcotics) Fazilka, a black wax envelope was found under the conductor seat, which was checked and 1.20 kg of heroin was recovered from a cloth packet. EOM
