MAJOR RELIEF TO COMMON MAN

Face2News/Chandigarh

In a major consumer-friendly initiative, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced major reduction in prices of Verka’s Milk and products to benefit the common man.

The Chief Minister said that Verka, a trusted brand of Milkfed, Punjab’s state-backed farmers’ cooperative, has announced significant price reductions across its popular range of milk and milk products. He said that the revised prices will come into effect from the morning of September 22, 2025, aligning with the Government of India’s GST 2.0 reforms, which lowered tariffs on essential dairy items. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that such measures will directly benefit the people of Punjab while strengthening the state’s cooperative model.

Under the new pricing, the Chief Minister said that consumers will enjoy the benefits of Verka Ghee which will be cheaper by ₹30–35 per litre/kg. He said that the price of Table Butter has been reduced by ₹30 per kg, that of Unsalted Butter reduced by ₹35 per kg, Processed Cheese by ₹20 per kg, and the UHT Milk (Standard, Toned & Double Toned) by ₹2 per litre. Similarly, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the prices of other products like Ice Cream (gallons, bricks & tubs) stand reduced by ₹10 per litre and Paneer has also been reduced by ₹15 per kg.

The Chief Minister envisioned that revision will generate multiple benefits, increase affordability and will boost consumer demand and sales volumes. He said that the move will multiply the tax collections thus strengthening the state’s fiscal position fostering growth, ensuring quality standards, and compliance. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these revisions will provide much-needed relief for consumers impacted by inflation while boosting demand for organized dairy products, ensuring both consumer welfare and farmer prosperity.
