The Golden Arrow will commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Indian Army’s victory during the 1965 Indo-Pak War at Asal Uttar, Punjab, on Tuesday . The historic occasion will be graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria as the Chief Guest in presence of Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Command.

The commemorative events are aimed at paying homage to the valour and sacrifices of our brave soldiers who fought the war. The battlefield of Asal Uttar, immortalised as the “Graveyard of Patton Tanks,” stands as a testimony to the indomitable courage and determination of Indian soldiers, foremost among them being Company Quarter Master Havildar Abdul Hamid, Param Vir Chakra (Posthumous).

The proceedings will commence with the unfurling of National Flag on a 72 feet high mast at Asal Uttar, symbolising the gratitude of the Nation to its fallen heroes. During the event, the Hon’ble Governor will inaugurate the Archives-cum-Museum, dedicated to preserving the legacy of battles fought in the Khem Karan sector. The ‘Hamid Gallery’, instituted in honour of CQMH Abdul Hamid, PVC, will also be dedicated to the Nation. The event will culminate with felicitation of War Veterans and Veer Naris of the war.
