The Central Government's Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Yojana for 100 aspirational agricultural districts across the country was implemented at the ground level today.

(MOREPIC1)    A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian at Fazilka in which MLA Sandeep Jakhar participated. The MLA expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chauhan and Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar for including Fazilka district from Punjab among the 100 districts of the country.

He said that every class will benefit from this scheme, because our entire system is linked to agriculture. When farmers prosper, labourers, traders and commission agents will be able to progress. He said that its main objective is to increase productivity, promote crop diversification, improve irrigation and storage and ensure credit availability. Under this, the focus will be mainly on agriculture and allied activities.

The scheme ensures saturation-based transformation of 36 schemes of 11 ministries, directly benefiting 1.7 crore farmers. In this, district-level plans will be prepared by the district authorities in collaboration with agricultural universities and NITI Aayog and accessibility and accountability will be ensured through Kisan App and District Ranking System transparency and digital dashboard. The scheme is also expected to solve the increasing problem of waterlogging in our area, which will provide relief to the farmers.

Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, ADCs Dr Mandeep Kaur and Subhash Chander were present on the occasion.
