Initiative Aims to Inspire Youth with the History of 9th Guru Sahib and His Disciples Who Defended the Right to Faith: Harjot Singh Bains

In a significant move to instill the values of sacrifice and religious freedom in the youth, Punjab Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains has directed all Vice-Chancellors (VCs) and College Principals across the state, including private and aided institutions, to organise comprehensive seminars highlighting the life, teachings and martyrdom of ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

Emphasising on the Guru's legacy of selflessness, inclusivity and human rights advocacy, S. Harjot Singh Bains wrote a letter to VCs and Principals to organise seminars and other religious programs from October 27, 2025 to November 30, 2025.

Directing to maintain religious decorum and sanctity of the events in the education institutes, the Education Minister asked the VCs and Principals to invite renowned Sikh scholars to seminars to educate students about the profound sacrifice of the Ninth Guru Sahib, who laid down his life to protect the right to faith and religious freedom. The sessions will also illuminate the extraordinary courage and devotion of his disciples—Bhai Sati Das Ji, Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Dayala Ji, and Bhai Jaita Ji (Baba Jiwan Singh Ji)—whose unwavering faith alongside the Guru Sahib represents an unparalleled chapter in history.

This initiative aims to bridge the gap between the state's rich heritage and its modern educational framework, ensuring that the legacy of these heroes continues to inspire future generations to uphold the principles of justice, righteousness and moral values.
