The Income Tax Department, TDS Charge, Amritsar organised an outreach seminar on the New Income Tax Act, new TDS/TCS provisions and their compliances at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar.

The seminar was addressed by Sh. Bhupinder Singh, IRS, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Range-TDS, Ludhiana, and Sh. Vikas Kumar, ITO, TDS Charge, Amritsar. The speakers apprised the participants about the salient features of the New Income Tax Act, 2025, recent amendments, new TDS/TCS sections, procedural aspects and statutory compliance requirements.

The outreach programme aimed to create awareness among Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy, minimize procedural discrepancies and promote timely compliance in tax deduction and collection. The consequences of non-compliance and defaults under TDS/TCS provisions were also highlighted.

An interactive session was held wherein participants were given the opportunity to seek clarifications and interact directly with the officers. Addressing the gathering, Sh. Bhupinder Singh stated that the objective of the seminar was to build capacity of stakeholders by providing comprehensive information on new tax provisions under TDS and TCS, in line with the ‘Capacity Building of Stakeholders’ initiative of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), New Delhi.

The seminar was part of the Income Tax Department’s ongoing efforts to engage with educational institutions and promote informed tax practices.
