MCM HOLDS 3-DAY WORKSHOP ON LIPPAN ART

he Fine Arts Department of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised a 3-day hands-on workshop on Lippan Art. Ms. Santosh Verma, Artist, Pidilite Industries Ltd. was the resource person for this workshop.

The expert demonstrated to the participants this clay art form from the state of Gujarat, which is mostly done by the village ladies from Kutch to decorate their homes. The participants decorated the wall of the Heritage Corner of the college with lippan art, showcasing a more contemporary way of lippan with different geometrical patterns and, images of parrot, peacock and humans.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this endeavour of the Fine Arts Department to promote rich Indian culture while widening the horizons of the budding artists by exposing them to a traditional art form. She congratulated the participants on providing a greater aesthetic appeal to the Heritage Corner.
