PUNJAB AT ONE SIGHT : REGISTRATION OR KHEDAN VATAN PUNJAB DIYAN EXTENDED TILL SEPTEMBER 8: MEET HAYER

In view of the massive excitement amongst the players in the aftermath of the grand opening of Khedan Vatan Punjab Diyan at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, Jalandhar by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Sports Department has extended the registration date for State and District level events till September 8th.

In a statement here today, the Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that earlier the last date was August 30 but considering the craze among the players, the decision to extend date has been taken. Now, the date has been extended in respect of 22 events other than 6 Block level sports viz. Volleyball, Athletics, Football, Kabaddi National Style, Kho-Kho and Tug of War because the preparations with regard to these six sports have been completed. These six sporting events are scheduled to be held from September 1 to September 7.

GOVT WILL NOT SPARE FOOD ADULTERERS AT ANY COST:   JAURAMAJRA

Health Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra during a high-level meeting with the officials of the Health Department at Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh today, said any kind of food adulteration  will not be tolerated and the culprits who do this will not be spared.  He directed the health department officials that there should be no laxity in taking samples of raw and cooked food.  Along with this, he also emphasized on paying special attention to adulteration in milk.

The Health Minister reprimanded the officials that any laxity in food testing and sampling will not be tolerated.  The negligence of the authorities in this matter will be unforgivable. 

RAISING PAY AS PER UGC PAY SCALES TO BE DISCUSSED WITH CM SOON, FM ASSURES COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY TEACHER UNIONS: Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday assured the teacher unions of universities and colleges of Punjab and Chandigarh that he along with Higher Education and Languages Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer would soon call upon the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to discuss their demand of raising pay as per the recommendations made by University Grant Commission (UGC).

In a high level meeting held here at MGSIPA, both the minister gave a patient hearing to the demands raised by the representatives of various college and University teachers’ unions of Punjab and Chandigarh.

Sharing the financial implications of the demand raised by the unions, the Finance Minister said that the state has been reeling under a fiscal burden because of the visionless policies of the previous governments but the Punjab Government led by CM Bhagant Mann is committed to ensuring the growth of Education and health sectors. He said that the government is also aware of the fact that the UGC pay scales for university and colleges teachers have been implemented by most of the states. Prominent amongst others, Jaspreet Talwar, Principal Secretary Higher Education, Mohit Tiwari, Special Secretary Finance and Rajiv Gupta, DPI colleges were also present in the meeting.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS EXPEDITED FOR 552 POSTS IN PWD: The Punjab Public Works Department is in the process of making recruitment against 552 vacant posts. Giving this information, PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO Said that soon the vacancies of Sub-Divisional Engineer (Civil), Sub-Divisional Engineer (Electrical), Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Electrical), Senior Assistant and Junior Draftsman etc. will be filled.

Mr. ETO said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan is committed to provide employment to the eligible youth of the state and working in this direction, the recruitment process is going on regarding the vacant posts of the Public Works Department. He said that the appointment letters have been issued to 22 Sub Divisional Engineers after the completion of the recruitment process of total 28 posts of Sub Divisional Engineers (civil/ electrical wing).

The PWD Minister further said that the candidates found eligible for the posts of 210 Junior Engineers (Civil) will be handed over appointment letters soon after completion of the recruitment process. He said that for 25 posts of Junior Engineer (Electrical), a letter has been written to the concerned District Magistrate regarding police verification and this process would be completed soon.  

A NEW CIRCUIT HOUSE WILL BE BUILT AT PATHANKOT: Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua on Wednesday said that a new circuit house will be built at Pathankot and regarding this directions have been issued to the concerned departments. This new circuit house will be built in an area of about two acres at a cost of 8 Cr, which is set to be completed by March 2024.
