CBI ARRESTS AN INCOME TAX OFFICER FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF Rs.FIVE LAKH

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)  has arrested an Income Tax Officer(ITO), Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh) for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.Five Lakh from the Complainant. 

A case was registered on complaint against an ITO, Mandsaur(Madhya Pradesh). The Complainant had alleged that his firm is engaged in manufacturing of electric switches in Maharashtra, however, Income Tax Assessment of the said firm was being done at the office of Income Tax at Mandsaur(MP).

It was further alleged that the ITO, Mandsaur demanded a bribe of Rs.5,00,000/- and that if the demanded bribe was not paid, then he would get heavy penalty imposed by the Income Tax Department & IT raid on the firm of the complainant. 

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.5,00,000/- from the Complainant. Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused.
