CHANDIGARH CAG OFFICE ORGANISES A CYCLOTHON AS PART OF AUDIT DIWAS CELEBRATIONS

On the occasion of weeklong celebrations of Audit Diwas, a ‘Cyclothon’ was held on November 27, 2022 from Sukhna Lake to Punjab Audit Bhawan, Sector 17, Chandigarh under the tutelage of various field offices of Comptroller and Auditor General of India situated in Chandigarh.

Sh Raghubir Singh, former Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General of India, a prominent civil servant of the 1972 batch of IA&AS with an illustrious career spanning over 38 years, flagged off the cyclists to paddle from Sukhna Lake to Punjab Audit Bhawan, Sector 17 while participating enthusiastically. He iterated that the city beautiful being a smart city has very good cycle tracks which motivates its residents to paddle the cycle with enthusiasm and remain active in their life.(SUBHEAD)(MOREPIC1)  

The event was organized with the aim to get the people involved in outdoor activities and to enhance the cycling culture in the city. Apart from spreading awareness regarding the organization of C&AG, it was organized to create awareness on fitness, environment conservation and reducing carbon footprint through cycling. More than two hundred cyclists from different field offices of C&AG located in Chandigarh region participated in the cycle rally.

The Department also used this opportunity to encourage its staff to utilize bicycle to commute to office. Sh. Dhruv Bhola, a Director level officer in C&AG office said, “We are motivating our staff to cycle to office at least one day of the week to start with, so that apart from fitness and well-being, it shall also reduce carbon emissions and support traffic management in the city.” The initiative is also in line with the Fit India Movement that was launched nationwide by the PM in August 2019 to encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives.
