Chief Patron of Jammu Kashmir Rural Development Society and Patriarch of National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Friday expressed his deep condolences over the demise of Shiromani Akali Dal, Patron and former MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura.
In this mourning meeting, former Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Mubarak Gul, JKRDS Chairman Sports. Raja Ghulam Nabi Wani, Secretary Planning Shabir Ahmed and other leaders also participated. Later, the said leaders termed the death of Brahmpura as an irreparable loss of the party, the Shiromani Akali Dal and the people of Punjab. Brahmpura, was well versed in Punjab politics and had endured many struggles during the Emergency,” Leaders said in a press release.
Brahmpura was a leader who was also known as the “Majhe Da Jarnail” (General of Majha) in the Majha region of Punjab, a title he earned due to his good deeds towards the welfare.
However, Brahmpura has also served imprisonment in a cellular jail (Kala Pani) at Andaman and Nicobar for the welfare of Punjab. Every citizen will remember the efforts done by him,” Leaders stated.
