FIVE YEARS RI WITH FINE OF Rs. 50,000/- TO THEN BRANCH MANAGER OF DENA BANK IN BRIBERY CASE

The Special Judge, CBI Court, Ahmedabad  on Friday sentenced Sh. U. B. Makwana, then Branch Manager, Dena Bank, Chandkheda to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 50,000/- in a bribery case.

CBI had registered a case on 17.07.2002 against Shri U. B. Makwana, Branch Manager, Dena Bank, Chandkheda on the allegations of demanding illegal gratification of Rs. 30,000/- from the Complainant. It was alleged that the accused demanded the bribe for showing favour to Complainant in settlement of outstanding Loan. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000/-.

After investigation, a chargesheet was filed against the accused. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
