PS Timarpur team has launched a special drive to keep a check on the persons indulging in bootlegging to break the chain of bootlegging. Accordingly, a dedicated police team led by ASI Raj Kumar comprising HC Ravinder, under close supervision of Inspr. Tribhuwan Singh Negi, SHO/PS Timarpur has been working relentlessly and developing information about bootlegging, under the guidance of Ms. Alka Azad, ACP/ Sub-Division, Timarpur. The team also used to patrol in the area in odd hours randomly to keep a check on such illegal activities.
In the intervening night of 30/31.12.2022, ASI Raj Kumar and HC Ravinder were deployed for motorcycle patrolling duty in the area, under the close supervision of SHO/PS Timarpur and guidance of ACP/Sub-Division, Timarpur.
During patrolling at about 08:00 AM, the motorcycle patrolling team reached near Sidhi Baba Mandir, Footpath Majnu Ka Tila, Delhi and noticed two suspected persons having two bags by each one. On suspicion the motorcycle patrolling team enquired them and both the persons frightened after seeing the police in uniform. Hence, they tried to escape from there but due to the swiftness and alertness of patrolling staff, both the persons were grabbed by them.
On checking their bags, total of 134 bottles of illicit liquor were found on which “999 Power Star Fine Whisky 750 ml. Blended & Bottled by Empire ALCBREV LTD. Plot No. 58 Industrial Area Phase-2 Chandigarh-16002 (For Sale in Chandigarh (UT) Only” was written. Each person was carrying 02 bags. The accused persons were identified as Abhishek age-23 years and Bunty R/o age-25 years.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 385/22 dated 31.12.2022 u/s 33 Delhi Excise Act was registered at PS Timarpur, Delhi and investigation was taken up.
During interrogation, the accused persons Abhishek age-23 years and Bunty R/o age-25 years disclosed that they both work for a person namely Manish Sharma r/o Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, who gives Rs. 1500/- each of them for one trip and as per his directions they used to bring the stock of illicit liquor from Ambala Haryana.
Mr. Sagar Singh Kalsi, IPS, DCP, North Distt. said, as per the directions of their boss Manish Sharma, they both received the stock of illicit liquor kept in 04 bags from an unknown person who met them at Bus Stand Ambala, in the intervening night of 30/31.12.2022. Later on they boarded in a Bus of Himachal Roadways and brought the stock of liquor and de-boarded at Majnu Ka Tilla, Delhi in the morning hours. Further, they were waiting for Manish Sharma who had to come there to receive the stock, but they were apprehended by the police team along with the illicit liquor.(SUBHEAD)
Both the accused persons are school dropouts and have studied up to 8th standard only and both are budding criminals. The accused Abhishek does work as a waiter in the marriages and the accused Bunty works in a shop of clothes, but both were indulged in such types of criminal activity to earn easy money with the association of Manish Sharma.
Subsequently, at the instance of arrested accused persons, raids were conducted at the possible hideouts of the alleged Manish, but he was found absconding.
The Accused Abhishek R/o Chandralok, Sabun Godown, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, age-23 years. (His previous antecedents are being verified) and Bunty R/o Gali Chandralok, Sabun Godown, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, age-25 years. (His previous antecedents are being verified).

Investigation of the case is in progress and efforts are being made to nab the main accused Manish Sharma and to affect more recovery as well as to ascertain the involvement of other associate in this racket.
