PERSON WORKING IN DMRC, IMPERSONATING HIMSELF AS IAS OFFICER, USING RED BEACON ON HIS PERSONAL VEHICLE, ARRESTED

In view of the forthcoming Republic Day Celebration, strict vigil is being kept all around the area over miscreants and unwanted elements having potential to disturb peace and Law & order.  The accused identified as Manoj Kuamr Gupta S/o Munna Lal Gupta R/o Ganga Vihar, Shahadra, Delhi, Age-40 years. He joined the DMRC in the year 2004.

On 05.01.2023 at about 07:05 PM, a public person passing through fruit market Shastri Park noticed a Tata Tigor car flashing “Red Beacon Light”. He found the vehicle suspicious. He shared it with the traffic police officer ASI Dhamendra Kumar, performing duty on the stretch.

ASI Dharmendra Kumar stopped the vehicle and asked the driver of his identity for using the red beacon on his vehicle. The person couldn’t reply satisfactorily and stated arguing with him instead. ASI Dharmendra Kumar reported the matter to local police on which SHO/Shastri Park, patrolling in the area immediately reached at the spot with his team. He asked the driver of the vehicle to prove his identity and details of vehicle he is using but he couldn’t and continuously tried to mislead the police team. 

Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sain, IPS, DCP, North East Distt., said On formal examination it was found that, “भारत सरकार” was written on Front bonnet andGOVT. OF INDIA, MINISTRY OF POWER & ENERGY” was written on the back side of the car. In addition, one sticker with logo of Advocate was also found pasted at left side of the wind screen of the car which confirmed the suspicion. On asking about authorization for flashing the “Red Beacon”, he got annoyed and in a threatening way, introduced himself as Sanjeev Kumar IAS, posted as Deputy Director in a ‘Ministry’. He further told that, he is authorized for flashing the “Red Beacon Light”.(SUBHEAD)

On checking the ownership documents of the vehicle, it was found registered in the name of Manoj Kumar Gupta R/o Delhi. Further, on checking the Driving License, it was also found in the same name & address. The Photo printed on the driving license was also matching with the driver. During cursory search one ID card in the name of Manoj Kumar Gupta, Head Maintainer, issued by the DMRC was also recovered from his conscious possession.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 010/23 dated 05.01.23 u/s 171/419/420/471IPC & 108 CMVR read with 177 MV Act, PS Shastri Park,Delhi was registered. The person was arrested and investigation in the case was taken up.

On sustained interrogation, he confessed for his crime and disclosed that, to get undue benefit of vehicle fitted with red beacon in his daily business and to show-off & create his impression in the public, he was using “Red Beacon” and other marking.

The prompt response by traffic police officer on an information shared by a public person and equally quick response from SHO/Shastri Park & his team followed by thorough professional interrogations helped in intercepting the above said person impersonating himself as a Civil Services Officer and unauthorizedly using red beacon on his personal vehicle.

Further investigation in this case is in progress.
