DELHI POLICE BUSTED TWO INTERSTATE ILLEGAL FIREARMS SYNDICATES, FOUR ACTIVE MEMBERS WITH 18 PISTOLS RECOVERED

In view of forthcoming celebration of Republic Day in Delhi, increased surveillance by the teams of Special Cell was mounted on the firearms suppliers of Madhya Pradesh who were found frequently indulging in supplying firearms and ammunition in Delhi in the past. Requisite intelligence in this regard was collected and sources were deployed to gather more information about various firearms syndicates. Constant efforts in this regard succeeded when team led by Insp. Ranjeet Singh, Sanjeev Kumar and Satvinder Singh under the supervision of ACP Attar Singh of Special Cell busted two interstate illegal firearms syndicates by arresting four firearms suppliers and members of these arms syndicates.

The accused identified as  Rohit Kumar (Age 26 Year) S/o Sh. Mahesh Prasad R/o Village Khitwans, PS Mahroni, Tehsil Lalitpur, District Lalitpur, UP.,  Pawan Kumar ( Age 28 years) S/o Sh. Kanhaiya Lal R/o Village Niwauwa, PS Pali, Tehsil Baroda Bijlon, District Lalitpur, UP., Sunny (Age 21 Year) S/o Sh. Omprakash R/o Sukhram Colony, PS Anaj Mandi, District Patiala, Punjab. , Harshdeep (Age 19 years) S/o Sh. Binder Singh R/o DMW, Near Fatak No. 16, Rasulpur Saida, District- Patiala, Punjab.

(SUBHEAD)With the arrest of above four fire arms suppliers, 18 pistols i.e. 10 semi-automatic pistols with 10 spare magazines (total 20 magazines) and 08 single shot pistols have been recovered. Arrested persons used to get the consignments of firearms from MP-based arms manufacturers-cum-suppliers and they further used to supply the same in Delhi and NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and UP West. All arrestees have been indulging in arms trafficking for more than four years.

INFORMATION AND OPERATION: On receipt of a specific information on 13/01/2023, three accused persons namely Rohit Kumar, Pawan Kumar and Harshdeep Singh were apprehended beneath Barapullah Elevated Road near TSR Stand, Nizamuddin Railway Station Delhi by the team when accused persons exchanged the firearms. Fourth accused Sunny, the handler of Harshdeep was subsequently arrested at the instance of Harshdeep from near Nizamuddin Railway Station Delhi.

A case FIR u/s 25(8) Arms (Amendment) Act 2019 has been registered at PS Special Cell in this regard.
Background & Criminal history

Arrested firearms suppliers had received the consignments of recovered pistols from two firearms suppliers of Sendhwa and Burhanpur in MP.

Mr.P. S. Kushwah, Addl. Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, said, Sunny and Harshdeep Singh had procured the pistols from an arms supplier of Burhanpur in MP. Rohit and Pawan had procured pistols from a person namely Sardar of Sendhwa in MP. Accused persons have disclosed that they used to procure a semi-automatic pistol , a single shot pistol from MP and they would further sell these firearms to the criminals in Delhi/NCR and other states. From the interrogation of the arrested persons, it has been revealed that they have supplied firearms in Delhi/NCR during the last 4 years.

Sunny has disclosed that he has been previously involved in a case of attempt to murder and robbery in PS Anaaj Mandi in Patiala, Punjab in the year 2021. Sunny has further disclosed that he had procured pistols to avenge the attack on his brother in Nov 2022 by the associates of SK Kharod, a gangster and also associated with Punjab University Students Organization (PUSU). He had already supplied firearms to the gangsters and criminals in Punjab.

From the interrogation of arrested accused persons, it has been revealed that arrested firearms suppliers used to carry new handsets and new SIM cards every time. After collecting the consignments of firearms, they used to travel by bus from Indore to their respective destinations and their modus operandi was to frequently change the buses on the way.

Further investigation of the case and interrogation of the arrested firearms suppliers is on to identify the other members of the syndicate.
