TRIBUTES PAID TO REVOLUTIONARY HEMU KALANI ON BALIDAN DIWAS

Colonel Agyapal Singh Sidhu (retd), while saluting the supreme sacrifice of the revolutionary martyr Hemu Kalani, said that Hemu Kalani, the Sindh Hindu anti-colonialist, who was martyred by the British, 80 years ago was a formidable if relatively unsung rebel of the last century.

He was one of the youngest revolutionaries executed for fighting for Indian independence. He offered his life for his nation at the age of merely 19 years.

He said that Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev Singh and other freedom fighters have made a special contribution in the freedom movement, with their inspiration, Hemu Kalani made sacrifices.

To pay tributes to the martyr, a meeting was jointly organised under the joint auspices of Sindhi Academy, Sindhi Samaj Samiti, Bhartiya Sindhu Sabha, Pujya Sindhi and Bhanushali Panchayat at Shaheed Hemu Kalani Park Padampur.(SUBHEAD)

Rakesh Sharma, ex-serviceman, said that the sacrifice of martyrs is not related to any particular caste and religion. That's why don't keep the supreme sacrifice of Martyr Hemu Kalani limited to the society, make every possible effort to make it accessible to the masses.

Lecturer Rajpal Joyia said that countless brave soldiers sacrificed their lives and freed the country from the chains of slavery. Among them Hemu Kalani will always be remembered.

Head of Nirankari Mission Kesar Singh, President Tulsi Hanjwani, Ghanshyam Harwani paid floral tributes to the martyr. Hundreds of people took out a tricolor bike rally from Hemu Kalani Park to Jhulelal Mandir. Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited distributed warm blankets to needy persons on the occasion.
