On 12.01.2023, complainant lady r/o Central District, Delhi filed a complaint on Cyber Crime Online Portal in which she alleged that in July 2022, she came in contact with a boy namely Raghav Chauhan on Instagram. Later on, they developed friendship and exchanged their WhatsApp numbers. Accused used to message her on whatsapp regularly in a friendly way and won her faith over the time.
Later, they developed intimacy and they stripped naked on video call. During the video call, accused recorded a semi-nude video of complainant and started demanding money from her. Complainant got frightened and paid him Rs 1.25 Lac. But accused again demanded money by threatening her that he will put the video of her social media. Accused also sent the same semi-nude video of victim to her husband and threatened to circulate the video on social platform if Rs 70,000/- more is not paid to him. Subsequently, a case FIR. No. 06/23, U/S 384/354D/506 IPC, PS Cyber Central was registered and investigation was taken up.
Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the offence, a dedicated team led by Inspr. Khemendra Pal Singh SHO/PS Cyber Central under the supervision of Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, ACP/Operation was constituted.
(SUBHEAD)During investigation, on 26.01.23, with the help of technical surveillance, it was known that the accused is present in Karol Bagh area. The staff acted swiftly and arrested the accused person who disclosed his identity as Sanny Chauhan @ Raghav Chuhan s/o Ishwar Chauhan R/o Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Age 25 years. Further, Mobile phone containing Semi-Nude video of complainant and 03 Sim cards used in commission of crime was recovered from the possession of accused.
INTERROGATION: Ms. Shweta Chauhan, IPS, DCP, Central Distt, said accuded Sanny Chauhan disclosed that he created accounts on Instagram, Facebook and whatsapp and randomly sent friendship request to females. He then exchanged his mobile numbers and used to send messages to them and would video call victims regularly to win their faith. Later, he used lure them and would record obscene videos of victims to extort money from them by threatening them to upload the videos on social media. With the same intention, he recorded the video of victim and extorted Rs 1.25 Lac.
KNOW THE ACCUSED: Sanny Chauhan @ Raghav Chuahan s/o Ishwar Chauhan R/o Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Age 25 years has studied up to 11th class. He got married but wife left him 2 year ago. He worked as Ardali in Army War College. At present, he is working in Railway as attendant on contract base.
RECOVERY:- 01 mobile phone 03 SIM cards used in commission of crime.
Further, Investigation of the case is underway.
