In a letter to the General Manager Northern Railway New Delhi, Sushil Kumar Goyal Chairman Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangh has requested to run special trains from Sriganganagar to Haridwar via Abohar on the occasion of Mahashivratri and Somvati Amavasya.
In a letter sent to the GM, he said that Somvati Amavasya falls on 20th February and Mahashivratri is to be celebrated on 18th February 2023. Railways should run special trains from Sriganganagar to Haridwar through Abohar-Bathinda section on these occasions.
(SUBHEAD)Goyal said that on Somvati Amavasya, thousands of Hindus reach the holy place of Haridwar as per the tradition, to take bath there. On Mahashivratri, the passengers reach Neelkanth for darshan of Neelkanth Mahadev. But in Sriganganagar and Abohar area only one train 14712 runs for Haridwar that is being run only till Saharanpur for the past few months.
Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangh requests the railways to run special train from Sriganganagar to Haridwar on 17,18,19 February 2023 for Haridwar and back from Haridwar to Sriganganagar on 19,20,21/2/2023 (like a special train has been run from Bathinda to Varanasi station on February 2 to celebrate Guru Ravidas Jayanti. Several times such trains are run during Sikh religious festivals and also for Dera Beas Amritsar so that the people of this area can take advantage of the auspicious occasions.
