SAPTA SHAKTI COMMAND RENEWS COMMITMENT TOWARDS THE ENVIRONMENT

The Sapta Shakti Command, joined the national and global initiative in commemorating World Environment Day 2023 under the theme ‘OLIVE GREEN.… DEFENDING THE ENVIRONMENT’. The occasion provided an opportunity to reflect the significance of environment preservation and realign all stakeholders with renewed commitment towards creating a sustainable future for generations to come.

During the run up to the World Environment Day as also part of continuation of all the efforts in this direction, all formations of Sapta Shakti Command at various stations in Punjab, Haryana & Rajasthan carried out various activities like, Awareness Lectures for young and old, Cycle Rallies, Plastic Pollution Clearance drives, Water Conservation under “Mission AmritSarovar” and other initiatives like development of Environment Parks. Large scale tree plantation drive, wherein 30 thousand plus saplings of shady, ornamental, fruit bearing variety were planted at all stations, would help in creation of Carbon Sinks which would act as a resource for fresh air for surrounding areas.(SUBHEAD)

Demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability, the Sapta Shakti Command initiated all ranks to undertake Meri Life (Life for Environment) Pledge, launched numerous station level 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) programs and engaged troops and their families in raising environmental consciousness by preventing pollution, conserving water and planting trees to make our environment pollution free. The reclamation of open wastelands and water bodies was undertaken, conveying the message “Let the best shovel be the weapon of your choice”.

Mrs Shakunthala Raju, Regional President AWWA, Sapta Shakti Command inaugurated an Environment and Adventure Park at Jaipur Military Station and sharing her valuable thoughts encouraged everyone to pledge to protect and preserve our beautiful planet for future generations.
