The team of WR-II, Crime Branch has arrested a cheat Rajbir, 53 years, R/o , Najafgarh, Delhi from Najafgarh, Delhi. He was involved in securing false insurance claim either by lodging false FIR of vehicle theft or by destroying the vehicle. Total 09 such vehicles were identified where the accused had filed false FIRs to get the insurance claim. 03 stolen/tampered cars, one mobile phone and one high security number plate were also recovered on the instance of the accused. In this regard a case FIR No 122/2023, U/s 420/435/482/411/120B/34 IPC was registered at PS Crime Branch, Delhi.
Secret information was received by SI Sumit Kumar that one person named Rajbir is living at Prem Nagar, Najafgarh, Delhi, who is involved in taking false insurance claim either by lodging false FIR of vehicles theft or by destroying the vehicles.
Accordingly, a team led by Insp. Vinay Kumar comprising of SI Sumit Kumar, SI Gautam, ASI Deepak, ASI Manobar Khan, ASI Rajesh, HC Pankaj, HC Mahesh, HC Rajesh, HC Harender, HC Sandeep, Ct Sriram and Ct Mukesh under the close supervision of ACP Yashpal Singh was constituted by DCP Satish Kumar and Joint CP S.D. Mishra to nab the cheat.(SUBHEAD)
A trap was laid and the accused Rajbir was apprehended from Prem Nagar, Najafgarh, Delhi.
INTERROGATION & MODUS OPERANDI: Mr.Ravindra Singh Yadav, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police
Crime, during interrogation accused Rajbir disclosed that he used to purchase old vehicles with remaining life span of around one year or so. He got these vehicles properly painted and then got them insured for higher value of around 4-5 lakh. Thereafter, he either got registered false FIR of the vehicle theft or destroy it and get the claim from insurance company. By this modus operandi, he had received claims of about 10 cars.
The accused had got registered following vehicles in his name or in the name of his close relatives to secure the insurance claim fraudulently.

Accused Rajbir Singh studied upto 12th class only. Earlier he purchased vehicles generally old/obsolete and gave them to Ola/Uber on rental basis and earn rental income. He was earning well and with passage of time, he developed good knowledge about this sector. Accused is a habitual cheat who is creating wrongful losses to the insurance companies by the above modus operandi.
