IDCA WOMEN'S T10 NATIONAL CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP FOR DEAF 2023 CHAMPION CHANDIGARH TEAM FELICITATED

The Champion team of Chandigarh the recently concluded IDCA Women's 4th T10 National Cricket Championship for Deaf 2023 held at Benguluru was felicitated by Sanjay Tandon, President, UT Cricket Association and Sumet Jain, President, Indian Deaf Crickets Association (IDCA) at a function held at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16 on Saturday.

IDCA is a governing Deaf cricket in the country which is affiliated to Deaf International Cricket Association (DICC) and organized this tournament. A total of ten teams across the country participated wherein Chandigarh played seven matches including the semi-finals and final. UT Girls beat two time winner Mumbai by eight wickets. Mumbai was bundle out for 73 runs in eight overs. Chandigarh chased down the target in 7.1 over with the fine contribution of Neha (56 runs)

(SUBHEAD)IDCA President Sumit Jain and Secretary Ajay Kumar gave detailed information about the tournament and the cricket events being organized by IDCA for the deaf and dumb in the country during the ocassion. They informed that the next edition of this tournament would be organized in Chandigarh for which they expressed the fullest cooperation from UTCA. City team was consisting the players from professional, housewife, student, working and other background. All were organized in a team through the efforts of Chandigarh based 'She Foundation' who were further prepared for the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Tandon expressed happiness over the team's achievement and said that such talents only need direction and exposure in tournaments which IDCA had proved. On hosting the next edition, he said that UTCA will provide all possible help to the organizers for the tournament. To keep the girls aligned with cricket, he also gave permission to the girls in the ongoing UTCA Girls Camp at Sector 19.

UTCA’s Secretary Devendra Sharma, Treasurer Alok Krishna, Manager Operations- Manjit Singh and Col. Irshad Khan along with Women Leader of IDCA Jyoti Jain and other key members Sonu, Geeta Malik, Monica Khanan and Nitish Sharma were also present during the ocasion.
