The Ferozepur police have arrested the DSP City Surinder Bansal who had been earlier booked two days back on graft charges in connection with the case related to illegal monetary transactions.

Confirming the same, SSP Deepak Hillori said that the DSP has been arrested and further investigation are going on in this matter. SSP said that DSP have been arrested as per the guidelines of the Supreme court as per CRPC section 41 and it's sub-clauses.

Sources said that the DSP had not been cooperating with the police during the investigation and was also allegedly trying to influence the witnesses in the case following which he was taken into the custody on Tuesday.

(SUBHEAD)Notably, the police had booked the DSP on graft charges under section 7, and 7A of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 as amended in 2018 at Cantonment Police station on December 12. (FIR No. 132).

SSP Hillori said that the police has also taken the production warrant of the accused Gurmej Singh, who had already been arrested by the police few days ago in another case. “No body is above the law and no body will be allowed to take law into their hands”, said SSP.

It is pertinent to mention here that in September this year, DSP Bansal had written a letter to the SSP which had gone viral in which the DSP had leveled serious allegations against one of his SHO and few other police officials accussing them of patronising the drug smugglers in a clandestine manner.
