ENERGY MINISTER RECEIVES AWARD FROM THE PRESIDENT AT A CEREMONY HELD AT DELHI

Haryana was adjudged second best State under the Best Performing State Designated Agency category (Group 1) in the 33rd National Energy Conservation Awards 2023 held at Delhi.
Energy Minister, Sh. Ranjit Singh received the award from President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu in a function organised by the Union Ministry of Power at Vigyan Bhawan today which was also attended by Union Power Minister, Sh. R.K.Singh, Director General, Department of New & Renewable Energy & HAREDA, Haryana, Sh. S. Narayanan and many other Central Ministers and dignitaries. The awards were presented during the National Energy Conservation Award (NECA) function.
Sh. Ranjit Singh, while appraising this achievement informed that the Haryana Government is promoting energy conservation in the State with multipronged strategy consisting of Policy, Regulation, Demonstration and Incentives.
He said that the State Government has taken various policy initiatives including mandatory energy audit, Energy Conservation Building Code, mandatory installation of LED lights in various categories of buildings and Industries and mandatory installation of at least 4 star rated pumps in Agriculture sector. To assist building sector to achieve energy efficiency Energy Conservation Building Code(ECBC) Cell has been set up. Also to help industry sector, Perform, Achieve and Trade(PAT) cell have been established at HAREDA for technical support of stakeholders, said the Minister.
He shared that the conventional and diesel pumps are also being solarized with a target of 64,000 solar water pumps and during the current year, additional 70,000 solar pumps with 75 percent Governmwnt subsidy are being installed. Haryana has also formulated the State Energy Efficiency Action plan and targets has been set for Industry, Transport, Building and Agriculture sector. State Level Energy Transition Steering Committee has been established.
Sh. S Narayanan, informed that more than 500 new and existing buildings in Haryana have opted for Green building rating system and 68 buildings have opted for Energy Conservation Building Code Compliance. State Level Energy Conservation Awards have been formulated for Industries, Buildings, Institutions, Energy Auditing and Green Building Firms. Research and Innovation initiatives.
He further informed that apart from this, Energy efficient solar LED based streetlights have also been provided to rural sector stakeholders. The Department has also organised various capacity building programmes during 2022-23. The Department has strengthened the institutional capacity and looking forward to explore new areas through R&D and innovative activities, with support from BEE. During 2021-22 Haryana score was 55 in State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) and with collaborative efforts DNRE/HAREDA and other Stakeholder Departments of Haryana same has been improved to 72 in SEEI 2023, informed Sh. S Narayanan.
National Energy Conservation Day is celebrated every year on 14th December to showcase and felicitate the achievements of the Nation in energy efficiency and conservation. Awards are given to recognize Industries and establishments for their special efforts to reduce energy consumption while maintaining their production. There are specific categories / Sectors such as Industries, Transport, Buildings, Institutions and Appliances of the Year under which these awards are issued. There are two prizes in these categories, i.e., first and second.
While most of the awards are given to private sectors units, the award under the Institution Category is given to State Designated Agency (SDA) of different States of the country for their proactive approach in policy, execution and coordination with stakeholders. For SDAs, there are 4 Groups under this category, mainly to enable peer-to-peer comparison of performance based on their total final energy consumption (TFEC). The awards are assessed on the performance of various factors including the efforts done in Cross Sector, Buildings, Industry, Municipal Services, Transport, Agriculture and DISCOM. There are around 65 indicators from these sectors which access the performance of the State on the scale of 100.
