The Border Security Force (BSF) troops reported to have seized a packet near the international border that carried approximately 530gm of heroin, in Fazilka Sector.
On Thursday at about 2140 hrs troops of 55 Battalion BSF, BOP Sowarwali heard sound of drone intrusion from Pakistan to India side. Immediately depth patrolling party was alerted in the same alignment and subsequently depth patrolling party noticed movement of drone. Two rounds were fired upon resultantly drone returned back towards Pakistan side. Area was searched and one packet suspected to be heroin wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with radium strip attached was recovered (appx weight 530 gm), which valued more than 2.50 crores in international market
Local police were informed about the incident. DSP Subeg Singh along with Police rep reached at the site. Cordon of area was done and thorough search led by K.N. Tripathi, Commandant 55 BN BSF and Punjab Police was carried out but nothing additional found.
Seized item has been handed over to Police Station Sadar Fazilka and an FIR has been registered.
