TERMS DISRESPECT OF OLYMPIANS A NATIONAL SHAME UNDER MODI REGIME

Terming it as a decision centre was forced to take under massive public pressure, the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Sunday said that it is high time serious allegations against Brij Bhushan Singh including of raping and molesting sportspersons are taken to logical conclusion.
Reacting sharply to news of Union Sports Ministry suspending the new WFI, Sandhwan said the new body should be terminated with immediate effect and fresh elections in a transparent manner should be held.
“Why have they stopped short of terminating the new WFI which was a proxy of the former head, who has been embroiled in serious criminal charges by those whom he was supposed to represent and safeguard, Sandhwan asked in a statement issued from here.
Underlining that no nation can prosper,if her athletes and daughters are not protected. The way Sakshi and Bajrang have led this fight against injustice and humiliation is exemplary and this is the result of their will power to fight all odds. It is painful and shameful for a nation to see their Olympians being disrespected and humiliated, Sandhwan added.
The whole process was a farce and the Union Government knew the public trust and sympathy is with the athletes who have been wronged. Tears of our athletes are a burden on the nation; Sandhwan said adding it was painful to see our star athletes returning medals.
