(MOREPIC1) Two drug smugglers were killed while one other was injured during a shootout which took place at old Talwandi Bhai road near Zira yesterday late evening.
As per information, the drug smugglers identified as Sandeep Singh, Anmol Preet Singh (both residents of Mander village in Moga District) along with Sukhbir Singh alias Gora resident of Mundi Jamal in Moga district, were going on a Swift Dzire Car (PB 29 Z 8893).
As soon as their car, reached near old Talwandi Bhai road, the STF Bathinda sleuths who were following the accused due to specific inputs, tried to stop their car but the accused open fired towards the STF.
The STF sleuths also fired few rounds during which one of the accused identified as Sukhbir Singh alias Gora died on the spot and Sandeep and Anmol Preet got badly injured during the firing. Both of them were brought to civil hospital in Zira where Sandeep breathed his last. The third smuggler Anmol was later referred to Gobind Singh Medical College in Faridkot. His condition is also reportedly critical.
As soon as the matter was reported senior police officials including DIG Ferozepur Range Ranjit Singh Dhillon, SSP Vivek Sheel Soni (Additional Charge), SP (D) Randhir Kumar, DSP Zira Gurdip Singh along with forensic teams reached the spot.Photo Caption : SSP Vivek Sheel Soni along with SP Randhir Kumar and other senior police officials at the site
