2 CHANDIGARH BATTALION NCC RUPNAGAR ORGANIZED LECTURE ON ROAD SAFETY

2 Chandigarh Battalion NCC Rupnagar organised a lecture regarding Road Safety and Traffic Rules. Assistant Superintendent Inspector Harpreet Singh addressed to about 400 cadets on the increase in road accidents happening daily.

(MOREPIC1)(MOREPIC2)He said, “Overspeeding, overtaking, drunk and drive, wrong parking, red light jumping and driving while, on mobile phone often leads to more and more road accidents. He also, talked about Road Signs, zebra crossings, why is it mandatory to walk on zebra crossing, to put helmet, seatbelt and much more. He gave knowledge on fines that, “Whosoever drives a vehicle without license and under 18 years would get Rs. 5000, wrong parking would get Rs. 1000 fine, driving without helmet would also be Rs. 1000 fine and drunk and drive cases would get Rs. 10000 fine plus 3 months of jail.

(SUBHEAD)He also said that, “During fog days, road accidents increases about 10 to 20%.. In Punjab, death rate is increased upto 14 to 15%. About 200 people die daily with 4 to 5 lakh people getting injured. Head injury in the main reason, for the increase in death rate.

In order to the prevent road accidents they released a programme which starts from 15 January to 14th February 2024 which they named as, National Road Safety Month. SI Harpreet Singh along with inspector Ranjit Singh Joshaan gave cadets precautions on Traffic rules and Road safety.

HOW TO FIGHT WITH FIRE SAFELY AND EFFECTIVELY. ABOUT 400 CADETS ATTENDED THE PROGRAMME.

Fire fighter officer Ajit Singh, Fire Brigade Department Rupnagar talked on the various types of fire and how to control it from spreading. There are 5 types of fire; Solid, Liquid, Gas, Electricity and chemical fire. Fire on paper, wood, etc; comes under solid fire, liquid fire such as, petrol, diesel, gasoline, etc falls here. Gas fire like, methane, butane, etc.Electric fire such as, short-circuiting, overloading and much more.

Fire spreading from Acids falls under chemical fire. He also talked on how to stop fire with an easy method, “The Triangle Method.” In it, three categories are mentioned on the three vertices of triangle. One vertice with material on which the fire is.Other vertice with heat and the third vertice with oxygen gas. If, any one out of these three is cut off then, the fire is put out. He also, talked about fire extinguisher, materials inside the fire extinguisher, parts and much more.

Towards the end, officerAjit Singh along with his crew made some cadets to spray jet from the hose of a water tank. It was an informative programme. 

HOSTED A FUNCTION ON VISIT OF GROUP COMMANDER BRIGADIER HARPREET SINGH

In Camp hosted a function regarding the visit of Group Commander Brigadier Harpreet Singh from Chandigarh. He was showered with guard of honour. He stepped on the field of NCC Academy Rupnagar with Camp Commandant Col Paramjit Singh, VSM, Commanding Officer 2 ChdBn NCC. Brigadier Harpreet Singh addressed to about 400 NCC SD/SW and JD/JW Cadets. He shared memories of past of how he was also a NCC cadet during his time.

He also said to Cadets that, “During this 10 days camp, cadets should enjoy, learn and practice themselves in order to become the best NCC Cadet or even get a chance to become an Army officer like him”.

Towards the end, he told NCC Cadets to never lose hope, always ask for help from the staff and most importantly work harder.
