MLA Sandeep Jakhar has appreciated the central govt’s decision to honour former Prime Ministers Chaudhary Charan Singh, PV Narasimha Rao and M.S. Swaminathan, known as the father of the Green Revolution.

He said that it is a matter of great pride for the countrymen that these great personalities will be honored with Bharat Ratna. Chaudhary Charan Singh made an important contribution to agriculture. His commitment to the ideals of farmer welfare remains a guiding light for us.

Jakhar said that Dr. Swaminathan was instrumental in making India self-reliant in agricultural production and especially Punjab. His contribution has been important in ensuring farmer welfare.

He said the Bharat Ratna award to former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao is in recognition of his visionary leadership and practical contribution to India's economic progress.

The MLA said that the work which should have been done by the previous governments has been done by the Modi government. In the 90s, when the country was surrounded by economic crisis, former PM Narasimha Rao, with his wisdom, took care of the country's economy. However, the Congress Party never considered it appropriate to even mention Rao's achievements. Even after Rao's death, his mortal remains were not allowed to come to the Congress office.
