To sensitise the masses on cancer, Saarthak, the Cancer Support Group of Fortis Cancer Institute, Mohali, organised a joyful day out for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers by organizing a ‘Ride to Wellness’ here today. The event was organised to mark February as the World Cancer Month and spread awareness about cancer prevention, cancer management and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Around 40 cancer survivors embarked on a special tour of the city on the CITCO’s Hop-On Hop Off double-decker bus. The ride commenced from Hotel Shivalik view and included a stop at the scenic Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, Sector 16, where participants engaged in kite-flying and other fun engagement activities. The bus continued its route, passing through iconic landmarks such as the Chandigarh Capitol Complex, Sector 1, before culminating at Sukhna Lake, Sector 1.

Elated at the gesture undertaken by Fortis Hospital Mohali, a cancer survivor, said, “We appreciate the unique gesture by Fortis Mohali. Such events become memorable moments in the face of adversity.” Echoing a similar view, another cancer survivor, said, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Fortis Mohali for organising this delightful activity. It brings joy and camaraderie to our journey of healing.”

This makes it hard for them to relate to other people and often leads to loneliness. This makes it important for cancer survivors to join support groups where they can voice their thoughts and emotions.”

Dr Narendra Bhalla, Director, Radiation Oncology, Fortis Cancer Institute, Mohali, said, “It is a harrowing time for patients to undergo radiation. Such get-togethers hel
