Former Cabinet Minister Sardar Balbir Singh Sidhu, along with numerous supporters and Congress party workers, today led a solemn candle march from Amb Sahib Gurudwara in Mohali to commemorate the untimely demise of 21-year-old Shubhkaran Singh. Shubhkaran tragically lost his life amidst clashes between farmers and police near the Khanauri border, where he had fervently joined the farmers' protest.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss, Balbir Singh Sidhu stated, “It is with immense grief that we mourn the loss of a young soul who sacrificed his life for the future of our farmers. Shubhkaran was not only the sole breadwinner of his family but also bore the heavy burden of caring for his ailing father, who battles with mental illness. This news is incredibly difficult to digest, and my heart goes out to his grieving family. May they find the strength to endure this irreparable loss.”, Sidhu added

Sidhu vehemently condemned the use of force by the Haryana police against peaceful protestors, highlighting the ongoing dialogue between farmers and the government to resolve the impasse. “The brutal murder of a 21-year-old farmer is a direct consequence of the force employed by the Haryana government and firing teargas shells and bullets,” he asserted.

Turning his attention to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Balbir Singh Sidhu accused him of adopting a double standard in his stance towards the farmers' plight. Directly addressing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Sidhu stated, As the leader of Punjab, it is imperative that you unequivocally stand with our farmers.”

Sidhu criticized the Chief Minister's failure to fulfill promises, particularly regarding the assurance of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 22 crops. “Bhagwant Mann must awaken from his slumber and prioritize the welfare of our farmers over political posturing. He said Bhagwant Mann should know that he is sitting on the position of CM due to false promises he made to farmers.
