In view of the increasing incidents of hooliganism in the city, the mayor and senior leaders of the BJP on Friday expressed their anger and submitted a memorandum at a meeting with DSP Arun Mundan against the lax functioning of the police.

Mayor Vimal Thatai said that crime has increased so much in the city in the last few days that people are living under the shadow of fear. Yesterday there were five thefts together and today in broad daylight a woman who was sitting outside her house was robbed of mobile phone. This shows that people are not at all safe in their homes and outside, there is no such thing as law in the city where these hooligans have no fear of police.

BJP city unit president Ramesh Gandhi said that the crime in the city is not being controlled by heads of the police stations who have taken over the office for the last one month whereas the previous SHOs were by and large protecting the residents even at the risk of their life. Immediate planning to tighten noose against the miscreants need to be done and implemented, the deputation that comprises other BJP officials and councilors said.
