The convocation ceremony was organized at the Gopichand Arya Mahila College here. Prof. Sanjay Kaushik (Dean, College Development Council) and ICSSR Hon. Director participated as the chief guest.

(MOREPIC1)  In his address, Kaushik congratulated Principal Dr. Rekha Sood Handa for awarding degrees to the college students for wearing a colourful sash by giving up the black gown, a symbol of slavery since the British era. It is very important to end this tradition of slavery, he said.

Prof. Kaushik said that the importance of getting a degree lies in what you are giving to the society. It is being propagated globally that India is an underdeveloped country and the people here are not very intelligent, but Indians are appointed to high positions in big companies in every corner of the world and have proved their worth.

He also said that it is being seen that 80 percent to 90 percent of the students who get top positions in the university are girls who are confident in their abilities. He also made the girl students aware of the dual responsibilities of home and workplace and said that the girl students should try to move the society forward by staying in their own country.

Degrees were awarded to UG and PG students. Excellent musical presentations were given by the music department. Dr. Raj Kumar presented the 'Motion of Thanks'. Amandeep Kaur and Shivangi Vij conducted the stage.
