SDM'S STENO NABBED BY VIGILANCE BUREAU FOR TAKING BRIBE OF RS 10000

The Vigilance Bureau sleuths have nabbed the steno of the SDM Ferozepur while he was allegedly taking bribe of Rs 10000/- .

As per information, the VB had received a complaint against the accused identified as Gurmeet Singh, resdent of Hasan Dhatt in this district, by one Harpreet Singh, a resident of village Bagha Purana in Moga district.

The VB officials said that as per the complainant, the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 25000/-for helping him to get transferred a share of residential house in the name of his sister as an application in this regard was pending in the office of SDM.

“After the preliminary verification of the complaint, the VB team laid a trap during which the accused steno was caught red handed while accepting first instalment of bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses”, said VB officials.

He added that in this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at VB police station economic offences wing, Ludhiana unit. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.
