In view of the Lok Sabha elections, a flag march was taken out by the police in Fazilka Friday evening, which was led by the Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal and SSP Dr Pragya Jain.
The DC and SSP said that all arrangements have been made for security in view of the elections in the district and security forces are closely monitoring. They appealed to the people to reach the polling booth to exercise their right to vote without any fear or greed. Adequate security arrangements have been made at all the polling booths. The SSP warned that anyone who tries to create mischief during the polling will be dealt with strictly according to law.
Earlier the DC and SSP visited the DAV College Campus in Abohar where Abohar Assistant Returning Officer Pankaj Bansal and Balluana ARO Amarinder Singh Malhi gave necessary directions to the polling parties.
The District Magistrate exercising the powers under Section 4 of the COTPA Act, 2003, has declared all the polling booths set up within the district limits as tobacco-free zones during the Lok Sabha Elections-2024. Smoking, beedi and other tobacco products have been banned inside the polling booths. The presiding officer of each polling booth has been nominated as the nodal officer for maintaining the status of tobacco free zone. Strict action will be taken against those who violate these orders
