CBI APPREHENDS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER CUM PRO TO CCIT, LUDHIANA WHILE ACCEPTING A BRIBE OF Rs. 8K

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended accused Ashok Kumar, Administrative Officer cum PRO to Chief Commissioner Income Tax (CCIT), Ludhiana while accepting a bribe of Rs. 8,000/ from the complainant out of the total demand of Rs. 15,000/- as undue advantage.

A case was registered by CBI on a complaint against accused Administrative Officer cum PRO to CCIT, Ludhiana on allegations that Complainant runs a business of air conditioner repair work and has undertaken repairs of ACs installed in Income Tax Office, Ludhiana. The complainant visited Income Tax Office and requested accused, Administrative Officer to clear his pending bill and also requested for providing him fresh work related to AC repairs. Subsequently, accused AO cum PRO demanded a bribe of Rs. 15000/- for assigning him fresh work related to AC repairs.

CBI laid a trap and caught accused red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 8,000/- from the complainant. Searches are being conducted at the residential and official premises of accused.

Investigation is continuing.
