VIGILANCE BUREAU CAUGHT RED HANDED ASI TAKING BRIBE OF RS. 3K

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has arrested ASI Tara Singh, posted at police station Dialpura, camp at Bhagta Bhaika, in Bathinda district, red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000.

Disclosing this here today, the spokesperson of the VB informed that the accused ASI was arrested based on the statement and recorded evidence presented by the complainant Manpreet Singh, a resident of Aklia Jalal village in tehsil Rampura Phul of Bathinda.

He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and reported that a complaint had been lodged against his tractor driver at the said police station due to a minor road accident with a biker, which was later resolved amicably but his tractor was detained at the police station.

(SUBHEAD)The complainant further alleged that when he approached the police station to release his tractor, the said ASI Tara Singh had demanded Rs 10,000 for the same but the deal was struck at Rs 8,000. However, this demand was recorded by the complainant in his mobile which was handed over to the VB as an evidence.

The spokesperson stated that acting on this complaint, a team from VB, Bathinda range, laid a trap and caught ASI Tara Singh red-handed, accepting Rs 3,000 bribe from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused ASI at VB police station Bathinda range and further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.
