In a shocking incident, three persons including a girl were killed in a shootout which took place during the broad day light in the city area. The deceased have been identified as Jaspreet Kaur (26), Dilpreet Singh (21) and Akashdeep Singh (23). The marriage of the deceased Jaspreet was scheduled for next month on October 24.
As per information, the incident took place around 12.15 pm when Jaspreet Kaur, a resident of the city area, along with her brother Anmolpreet Singh (24) and other relatives including Harpreet Singh, Dildeep Singh alias Lalli and Akashdeep Singh , was going to invite her relative for her marriage on a car (Hyundai Verna PB 15 E 5870).
As soon they started, six unidentified persons who were on two bikes, reached there and started indiscriminate fired towards the car. Sources said that four of the accused were carrying weapons and more than 50 rounds were fired during which Jaspreet was killed on the spot and rest were injured severely.
(SUBHEAD)Later, Dildeep and Akashdeep succumbed to injuries while the condition of Harpreet is reportedly critical, Anmolpreet has been referred to Ludhaina.
As per information, Dildeep had criminal record and he had been booked in two murder cases in Mamdot and SAS Nagar police stations and he had been released on parole recently.
As soon as the matter was reported, senior police officials including DIG Ferozeur Range Ajay Maluja, SSP Saumya Mishra, SP (D) Randhir Kumar besides forensic team, dog squad, CIA sleuths also reached the spot and started the investigation.
SSP Saumya Mishra said that the police has constituted various teams to nab the accused. “We are also checking the CCTV footage to get any clue about the accused and soon they will be nabbed”, said SSP.
