More than 200 trains affected due to “Bharat Bandh” call given by various farmer’s unions in support of their demands.
As per information more than 200 trains affected due to protests out of which 163 trains were cancelled besides 19 trains were short terminated. Besides these 182 trains, 15 trains were short originated, 15 trains were delayed and 9 trains were halted at various stations.
DRM Sanjay Sahu said that keeping in view of the situation, the railways had made proper arrangements for contingencies. He said that the trains are halted at those places where the commuters do not have to worry about food and other necessary things.

“We have setup help desks at all the railway stations so that the commuters could get the updated information which is also shared through bulk messages and announcements also”, said DRM Sahu.
During “Bandh” most of the business establishments besides educational institutions remained closed. Hundreds of farmers blocked the roads at various points including octroi number 7 in the Cantonment area, Talwandi Bhai underbridge, Bengali bridge on NH-5 in Makhu, Ferozeshah Toll Plaza, Lehrarohi village chowk Amritsar-Bathinda highway and Basti Tankan Wali near Cantonment Railway Station.
