OPERATION CHAKRA-V: CBI CONDUCTS SEARCHES IN DIGITAL ARRESTS CASE AND ARRESTS TWO ACCUSED TAKING TOTAL ARRESTS TO SIX SO FAR

In on-going investigation of a Digital Arrest Case, CBI conducted targeted searches at multiple locations in Mumbai and arrested two more operatives involved in the cybercrime syndicate. CBI took over this case upon reference from Govt. of Rajasthan, wherein the victim was digitally arrested by the cybercriminals impersonating officers of Law Enforcement Agency and extorted of Rs. 7.67 crore during Oct  2023 to Jan 2024. 

In above case CBI generated important leads and had earlier conducted extensive nationwide searches in April 2025 under Operation Chakra-V and arrested 4 accused. These coordinated operations successfully busted a large-scale racket involved in the illegal supply of SIM cards and mule bank accounts, which were being misused for committing digital arrests and other cybercrimes.  

In continuation, of above, under Operation Chakra-V the CBI based on the interrogation of above arrested accused carried out further targeted searches at key locations linked to members of the cybercrime syndicate involved in Digital arrests. The operation led to the apprehension of two important operatives in the criminal network were arrested at Mumbai. From their possession, apart from incriminating evidence, sophisticated digital tools employed in running the cybercrime syndicate were recovered. 

The two accused arrested were brought produced before the Competent Court at Jhunjhnu District, Rajasthan. The Court has granted Police Custody of the accused for 8 days. 

The CBI remains steadfast in its commitment to dismantling cybercrime syndicates through thorough and impartial investigation. Investigation is continuing.
