Many Hindu families who came from Sindh province of Pakistan to Sriganganagar have not been able to get Indian citizenship for almost eight years. Due to this, they are deprived of making essential documents like Aadhar Card, Voter Card, Ration Card, Job Card and Jan Aadhar Card.
In a special camp organized today in the village Budhrawali of Sadulshehar, villagers and Pakistani Hindu refugees under the leadership of District Vice President of All India Kisan Sabha Kaur Singh Sidhu submitted a memorandum to the District Collector demanding immediate grant of Indian citizenship to these families.
Sidhu said that after coming here, the Hindus from Sindh had hoped that they would live peacefully, but even after eight years, not getting citizenship is affecting their entire life. These families include more than a hundred children, elderly, youth and women. They don’t even have any source of income.
Expressing their anguish, the refugees said that Islamic terrorists in Pakistan destroyed their temples and shrines, their culture and also destroyed cremation grounds. They have no intention of returning to Pakistan. They want to settle permanently in India. They have requested the Central Government also to immediately take action on their long pending citizenship applications and help them avail benefits of welfare schemes.
